Dear website visitors!
When a parent is diagnosed with cancer, everything in a family changes. Parents are often unsure to what extent they can and should share their thoughts with their children. Children and adolescents often deal with anxiety and worries on their own. Aim of this research project with different partners (funded by the German Cancer Aid) is to support the development of a German wide network to help families with a parent with cancer to overcome speechlessness within the family. No child should have to deal with its emotional burden on its own any longer. For the sustained development of such a support network, a scientific basis needs to be established. We need knowledge about the need of family oriented services, and also on which families need support and which do not. Quality assured counselling services need to be tested in practice and improved. Scientific proof for their efficacy is also necessary. These are the main objectives of our joint research project in the next years.
On this website you will find information about our counselling services for children of parents with cancer, for their parents as well as other useful information. Scientists will find an overview on the research topics and the various studies which are conducted in the joint research project.
